NY to VA
Packing and planning for a move s**ks for everyone and you cannot convince me other wise.
Moving from our small rental on Long Island, NY to our temporary location in Cape Charles, VA was something I’d never like to do again.
Thinking smart we went ahead and rented a POD to load our larger items like the: outdoor patio set, bbq, smoker, the dining set...etc. It was honestly a game changer and I would recommend renting one to anyone moving. All large boxes filled to the top with clothes, glass wear, pots & pans, bath towels and all of the other minuscule items that made up our home had made their way into the POD with ease. BUT with all of these items in the POD meant we would not have access to them for MONTHS.
So we packed our essentials into our Tacoma & Mazda; and took the 7+ hour trip with our 2 dogs, 6 chickens, our leopard gecko, our queen sized Casper mattress, 2 pieces of large luggage with our clothes, and all of the other ‘immediate’ essentials we needed. Cars overflowing and hitting a little rain in the open bed of the Tacoma, we made it without damaging anything! Thank goodness!
When we were able to finally see the POD again we unloaded it into the 40 foot shipping container we had purchased for our Palmyra property and now have access to all of our belongings again… about three months later.
