The State For LOVERS

Fate seemed to put her hand on this card; as we had no idea on where we wanted to take our dream/plans and scale them into acreage rather than square feet. As any young millennial couple we turned to google to explore our extensive list of property options where we thought growing conditions were optimal; places like: Utah, Colorado, Washington, New York, Virginia, Vermont, our list went on.

With debates like: ‘maybe we don’t want to be in a different time zone than what we were used to’, ‘maybe we don’t want to be so far away from family’, ‘maybe the PNW is too cold for us if we hate New York winters already’…. Quickly states were then crossed of our list.

New York, the place we called home, seemed like a good idea until we realized that finding something in our desirable size wasn’t feasible with the zoning laws or quite honestly; our budget.

Thus left us with turning towards the state for ‘LOVERS’; Virginia.

Oddly enough Erika has been coming to this state since she was a child; as her grandparents had moved down to the Cape Charles area back in the early 2000’s. As well as Brandon proposing to Erika in the Shenandoah Valley, up in Laurel.

Virginia had seemed to call herself towards us. We dug further into the Virginia areas, scoping for the potential criteria we believed our clients would be. Places that called to us instantly was the Shenandoah Valley area, the Richmond area, and the Charlottesville area. The wineries, breweries, the college towns, and the mountains is what called us ‘home’. A place where farmers markets thrive, where people rely on their local famers, a place where people were just … people.

Thus calling Virginia our new home feels like a long time awaiting.
